Questioning the Beauty of Flowers

In a matter of days I’ve learned that flowers mostly come from Ecuador and that child labor is sometimes practiced. I’ve also learned that women workers are faced with dangerous situations that aren’t healthy for them. Everyday women whether pregnant or not have to face poisons because, if not, the flowers will not grow or get nurtured properly.

Knowing the truth about flowers and where they come from has not changed my view of them. Up until this day I still enjoy spending time planting, picking, and growing flowers but now I wonder if I am or am not supporting or all the bad that comes along with certain flowers in the world. I hope that through this organization I can learn what flowers do and do not support these horrible issues. Flowers are part of the beauty in nature but they sadly come with a horrifying secret.
